OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING!

'June is busting out all over' according to the lyrics from the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical 'Carousel' and my garden certainly seems to have been sitting up and listening!
Lettuces have dodged the slugs and explode in vivid green.
Purply, pinkish flowers precede minty mange tout balancing precariously on curly tendrils
Deep dark green brassicas, bold as brass, fight for space in their cage built to protect them from marauding pigeons and hungry caterpillars.
Sunshine yellow flowers on courgettes and marrow add to the stunning palette.
Possessively proud of the parsnips and salsify poking tentatively through the soil but wondering if there is actually anything lurking beneath or if they will be empty roots like my celeriac last year, all full of promise and no harvest.
His lordship's beans climb skywards in his absence under my guiding hand

and those I've adopted from the Isle of Wight show off their beauty and potential.

Soon there will be bounty - enough for all to share!!

Strange that Carousel (a feast of song and romance that came out in 1958 the year before I was born ) should come to mind right at this moment in time.  Coincidentally that was the year my parents married too and they will be celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary later this year.
And yes I do know that 'Oh What a Beautiful Morning came from Oklahoma, not Carousel!!  Showing my age now! Oh  I had a varied education!
More recipes coming soon!
